Bus route diversions

Due to a demonstration in the city centre, Stonebow will be closed between 13:30 and 15:30 on Saturday 4th December. City of York Council's press release regarding the demonstration can be found at https://www.york.gov.uk/protest

As a result of this, all bus services which normally serve Stonebow will be on diversion during the closure times. Services not shown in the list below will remain on their normal routes, however please allow extra time for your journey as roads are expected to be very busy.

Service 6 (Clifton Moor to University of York) - buses will divert via James St, Lawrence St, Paragon St, Fishergate, with an additional stop at Clifford St in both directions. Stonebow, Peasholme Green and Layerthorpe will not be served in either direction.

Service 8 (Grimston Bar Park & Ride) - buses will divert via Walmgate, St Denys Rd and Piccadilly, terminating at Merchantgate PC, then returning to the P&R site via the normal route. James St, Morrisons and Peasholme Green will not be served.
 
Service 9 (Monks Cross Park & Ride) - buses will divert via Lord Mayor’s Walk, Gillygate, St Leonard’s Place and Lendal Bridge, terminating at Station Rd CD and returning to Monks Cross via the opposite route. Peasholme Green, Stonebow, Rougier St and the Rail Station will not be served.

Service 11 (Bishopthorpe to Ashley Park Rd) - buses will divert via Lord Mayor’s Walk, Gillygate, St Leonard’s Place and Lendal Bridge in both directions. Peasholme Green, Stonebow, Low Ousegate, Micklegate and Rougier St will not be served in either direction.

Service 12 (Monks Cross to Foxwood Lane) - buses will divert via Lord Mayor’s Walk, Gillygate, St Leonard’s Place and Lendal Bridge in both directions. Peasholme Green, Stonebow, Low Ousegate, Micklegate and Rougier St will not be served in either direction.

Service 13 (Haxby West Nooks to Copmanthorpe) - buses will divert via Lord Mayor’s Walk, Gillygate, St Leonard’s Place and Lendal Bridge in both directions. Peasholme Green, Stonebow, Low Ousegate, Micklegate and Rougier St will not be served in either direction.

Service 25 (Dewenthope to Fulford) - buses will divert via Layerthorpe, Foss Islands Morrisons, James St, Lawrence St, Walmgate & St Denys’ Rd. Buses will stop at Piccadilly PD in both directions.
Stonebow and Peasholme Green will not be served in either direction.

Services 45/46/X46/X47 (York to Pocklington/Hull/Bridlington) - buses will divert via Lawrence St, Paragon St and Fishergate, with an additional stop at Clifford St in both directions. Layerthorpe, Peasholme Green and Stonebow will not be served in either direction.

Services 840/843 (Leeds to East Coast) - buses will divert via James St, Lawrence St, Paragon St, and Fishergate, with an additional stop at Clifford St in both directions. Layerthorpe, Peasholme Green and Stonebow will not be served in either direction.

Castleline service (York to Castle Howard) - buses will divert via James St, Lawrence St, Paragon St, and Fishergate, with an additional stop at Clifford St in both directions. Layerthorpe, Peasholme Green and Stonebow will not be served in either direction.

City tour buses will divert from Foss Bank via Foss Islands Rd, Paragon St, Fishergate, Piccadilly, Margaret St, Walmgate then resume normal route at Walmgate Bar. Stonebow will not be served.

All buses will return to their normal routes as soon as Stonebow reopens at 15:30. We apologise for any inconvenience.
