Bus diversions during Yorkshire Marathon - Sunday 20th October 2024
Services not shown in the list below will operate on their normal routes, however please allow extra travel time due to the large number of people expected to attend this event.
Service 4 – York to Acomb
The 08:05 departure from Clifford St will not operate on Sun 20th.
Service 6 – Clifton Moor to University of York
• On Sun 20th before 09:00:
Buses to/from Clifton Moor will terminate at Station Road (CD).
Buses to/from the University will terminate at Hungate.
Rougier St & Stonebow Interchange will not be served.
• Between 09:00 and 11:30 on Sun 20th:
Buses to/from Clifton Moor will terminate at Station Road (CD).
Buses will run between Hungate and Alcuin Ave. No service between Tang Hall Lane and Heslington East in either direction.
• Between 11:30 and 17:30 on Sun 20th:
Buses will follow normal route between Clifton Moor, city centre and Fourth Ave, then turn via Tang Hall Lane and Alcuin Ave, returning to city centre via normal route.
To travel between the city centre and University, use services U1 & U2.
Service 7 – Designer Outlet Park & Ride
Buses will operate every 15 minutes.
Service 8 – Grimston Bar Park & Ride
All day on Sun 20th, buses will divert via Field Lane, Heslington Lane and Fulford Road, stopping at Clifford Street (TB) every 15 mins. Buses will not serve Hull Road, Foss Islands Morrison’s, Piccadilly or Lawrence Street.
Service 9 - Monks Cross Park & Ride
From start of service until 12:30 on Sun 20th, buses will divert via Haxby Road, stopping at Theatre Royal (EE/EB) and Station Road (CE). Buses will not serve Malton Road, Stonebow Interchange or Rougier Street. First journeys from Station Rd will operate at 09:05, 09:15, 09:25 and 09:35.
Service 10 - Stamford Bridge to Poppleton
On Sun 20th until 18:00:
• From start of service, buses from Poppleton will divert via Clifford Street, Fulford Road, Heslington Lane, Field Lane, Hull Road Dunnington, York Road, Dunnington York Street, Common Road, Hull Road, Kexby, High Catton to Stamford Bridge. Piccadilly Interchange will not be served.
• The 07:21 departure from Stamford Bridge will run the normal route to Walmgate but will then divert via Barbican Road to Clifford Street. Trips after this time will divert via High Catton Lane and Kexby, Hull Road, Common Road, Dunnington York Street, Dunnington York Road, Hull Road, Field Lane, Heslington Lane, Fulford Road, Clifford Street.
• A revised timetable will be in operation on the Sunday, with extra time between City and Stamford Bridge to compensate for the long diversionary route.
• Normal service will resume with from the 18:25 from Poppleton, and the 18:27 from Stamford Bridge.
Service 198 – York Station to University of York
A frequent shuttle service will run on Sun 20th for marathon runners and spectators. Buses will depart from Rail Station RJ, running non-stop to the University.
Service 415 - Selby to York
Departures from Selby between 09:10 and 10:40 will terminate at Clifford Street (TD). Departures from York between 10:00 and 11:30 will start at Clifford Street (TG). These buses will not serve Piccadilly.
Services 840/843 – Leeds to East Coast
• The first departure of the day towards Leeds will follow the normal line of route.
• All buses after this will divert via Wigginton Rd.
• Buses to Malton will be diverted all morning.
• Buses will not serve Rougier Street, Stonebow, Heworth or Stockton-on-the-Forest.
Buses will revert to their normal route after 13:30.
Service U1 – City centre to University of York
• From 10:00 on Sat 19th, buses will divert via Fulford Rd, Broadway and Heslington Lane.
• All day on Sun 20th, buses will divert via Field Lane, Heslington Lane and Fulford Road, stopping at Clifford Street (TB).
Service U2 – City centre to University of York
• From 10:00 on Sat 19th until 21:00 on Sun 20th, buses will divert via Fulford Rd, Broadway and Heslington Lane. Buses will stop at Clifford Street TD/TG and use normal stops at Rougier Street/Station Interchange and Merchantgate.
• Merchantgate will not be served between 08:00 and 11:45 on Sun 20th. Nearest alternative stop will be the Barbican (Fawcett Street).
• Heslington Rd will not be served.
Service UN1 – University night bus
Buses will run via Fulford and Broadway instead of Heslington Road and University Road.
Services X46/X47 – York to Pocklington and Hull
On Sun 20th, services X46/X47 will divert via Fulford Road, Broadway, Heslington Lane, Field Lane, A1079.
• Buses will stop at Clifford Street and use normal stops at Rougier Street/Station Interchange.
• Stonebow, Layerthorpe & Hull Rd will not be served.
Open-top tour buses
Tour buses will not start running until roads reopen at approximately 12:30.
