Sometimes it can be difficult to prove your age. If you’re aged from 11 to 18 (up to the day before your 19th birthday) and live or study in York you can apply for a YOzone card.
It’s free and quick to apply for. You can show it to the bus driver to make sure you get the best fare.

The YOzone 11-16 card is available for free to any young person aged 11-16 years, who lives or studies in the City of York Council area.
YOzone 11-16 cards are valid until 31 August after your 16th birthday.

The YOzone 16-18 card is available for free to any young person aged 16 to 18 years, who lives or studies in the City of York Council area.
Apply for your YOzone 16-18 card during August, when you've completed Year 11 of school, and as soon as you know which school or college you'll be attending in Year 12.
YOzone 16-18 cards are valid until the last day before your 19th birthday.
Apply for a YOzone card online via the City of York Council website; you can get a new card, or renew or update your existing card.
If your YOzone 11-16 card is about to expire and you’d like to apply for a YOzone 16-18 card, we are currently unable to process these through the online portal.
Please email buspass@york.gov.uk with your name, address, an up-to-date photo, and confirmation of the sixth form or college you’ll be attending in Year 12 so we can send you a new card.
If you've lost your YOzone card, order and pay for a replacement by calling us on telephone: 01904 551670.
Stolen cards are replaced free of charge if you provide a valid police reference number.
