York Wheels

York Wheels is a voluntary organisation which provides a transport service for elderly persons (over 60), or people who have mobility problems and are unable to use public transport.

York Wheels provide a pre-booked car service operating between 08:00 and 16:30 on weekdays.

In addition to journeys to the doctor, dentist, hospital, shops, York Wheels can offer:

• visits to see friends or family
• trips to the coast
• visits to cinemas, libraries, coffee bars, restaurants, surrounding towns and cities

Would you like to start voluntary work but don’t know how?

If you can answer yes to these questions, then York Wheels would like to hear from you.

Community car schemes can help enormously to combat social isolation and alleviate peoples’ transport difficulties making a huge positive impact on the well being of the people using it, and those providing it too! Drivers use their own cars to provide a transport service and are reimbursed their costs.
