As part of the York Station Gateway project, cycle lanes going to and from the city centre have been introduced outside the front of York Station. These dedicated cycle lanes are separate from other traffic.
Roads, pavements and cycle routes are very busy in the York Station Gateway area. Remember to stop and slow down for people crossing your cycle lane, there are pedestrian crossings to help them do this.
There will be junctions where cyclists can join and leave the routes. Priority is indicated with stop lines on the cycle lane.
The cycle route for travelling to the city centre, adjacent to the train station, is incomplete for now with a closed section and another yet to be built. Follow the diversion signs to see where you need to rejoin the road.
The cycle route for travelling from the city centre, opposite the station, is complete and continues all the way from the cholera monument, up Queen Street to Blossom Street.
See more information about the York Station Gateway project on the City of York Council website.
