In the heart of the city
Exploring York by foot is made easy by the compact nature of the city, with its pedestrianised central area. A walk along the Mediæval city walls is an opportunity not to be missed. The city centre is full of tourist attractions, including England's largest cathedral, York Minster. Sightseeing buses are popular with tourists and there are frequent stops at places of interest. A trip in a boat along the river towards Bishopthorpe Palace is also highly recommended. For more information on attractions and places to visit, see the Visit York website.
