Update on roadworks at Crockey Hill and Germany Beck

City of York Council

Tuesday 23rd January 2018

Buses, Driving, Going to Work, Going to School, Visiting York

The A19 at Crockey Hill is open again to two lanes of traffic after completion of the first phase of City of York Council's improvements at the junction.

Emergency restrictions at the Wheldrake Lane junction have also been lifted, although there is still no right turn onto Wheldrake Lane from the A19.

This second phase of the works is scheduled to last a maximum of six weeks. During this time, all bus routes will return to their normal routes and timetables.

The A19 Crockey Hill improvements are one of a number of a number of essential roadworks required to improve the road networks and for utilities and construction works linked to important developments.

The council is coordinating these works to limit the disruption.

Essential utility works which require temporary traffic signals managing all traffic through a single lane on the A19 at Germany Beck – which were delayed to allow the first phase of the A19 Crockey Hill Pinch Point improvements – will now start on 29th January. These will last for four days.

The council is urging residents to plan ahead, allow more time for journeys on these routes and to consider alternatives.
