Park & Ride fare changes
From 26th March 2017, fare changes will be introduced on York’s Park & Ride network.
The changes have been introduced in line with national inflation and earnings data and will help meet the operational costs of running York's high-quality Park & Ride service. The changes are as follows:
Adult Return ticket will increase from £2.80 to £2.90
Smart Day tickets will increase from £2.50 to £2.60 (minimum purchase of 5 days)
Smart Weekly ticket will increase from £11.20 to £11.60
Smart Monthly ticket will increase from £44 to £46.40
Smart Annual ticket will increase from £440 to £464
Neil Ferris, director of economy and place, said: “York’s Park & Ride service is one of the best and busiest in the country, making over four-million passenger journeys every year. This service still represents excellent value for money, offering low cost, free parking and frequent services. This is evidenced by our passenger numbers continuing to rise.
“The fare increase will help to meet the increased operational costs of running the Park & Ride and enable customers to continue enjoying this high quality service.”
Marc Bichtemann, Managing Director for First York, said: “We remain committed to providing safe, punctual and reliable bus travel in York and we are determined to continue to transform the overall bus experience for all of our customers. In light of today’s announcement, I’d like to encourage customers who regularly purchase single day tickets from the driver to consider using the York by bus smart card which offers packs of 5, 10 or 20 day tickets and will ultimately work out cheaper.
“We have also introduced some changes to our First York ticket options. This includes increasing the number of people who can travel using the group ticket, from four to five, and two fare changes to our group and monthly travel tickets. I’d therefore advise customers to visit our website for further updates on these changes.”
