Long-term future of service 18 is secured
City of York Council has worked with neighbouring local authorities to secure the long-term future of the number 18 bus service from York to Holme-on-Spalding Moor.
With effect from Monday 6th August, East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) has been awarded a five-year contract to operate Service 18, which also stops in the villages of Wheldrake, Thorganby, Skipwith, North Duffield, Bubwith and Foggathorpe.
Daytime services along the route will operate with joint financial support from City of York Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and North Yorkshire County Council.
A Friday and Saturday evening service will operate until at least 31st March 2019, thanks to the financial support of all seven parish councils along the route - Wheldrake, Thorganby, Skipwith, North Duffield, Bubwith, Foggathorpe and Holme-on-Spalding Moor.
Councillor Peter Dew, City of York Council’s Executive Member for Transport and Planning said: “It's pleasing to hear that a number of local authorities and parish councils have worked together to secure the long-term future of this popular bus route, and that the Friday and Saturday evening service will continue to be available until the end of the financial year at least.”
A full timetable is available from EYMS' website.
