City of York Council’s annual Festival of Cycling returns to Rowntree Park on Sunday 1 September, with a wide variety of fun, pedal-powered activities and attractions for the whole family to enjoy.

There will be bikes and trikes of all shapes and sizes for people to have a go on, including adapted bikes, balance bikes and tandems; breath-taking BMX stunts from the Savage Skills display team; free travel planning advice from the council’s iTravel team; an opportunity for people to sign up to TryBike, a new scheme that enables anyone interested in giving cycling a try to borrow a bike free of charge for three weeks; and lots more besides.

Councillor Andy D’Agorne, City of York Council’s Executive Member for Transport, said: “The Festival of Cycling is a fun, free family day out that gives residents and visitors to the city the opportunity to find out about the travel and health benefits of cycling.

“Rowntree Park is a wonderful setting and there will be activities for people of all ages and levels of cycling ability to enjoy, as well as plenty of opportunity to access advice and information about cycling and other forms of sustainable transport. Do come along and join us!”

The event will be open from 10am to 4pm, and there will be plenty to see and do throughout the day. For more information on cycling and other forms of sustainable transport, visit www.itravelyork.info.
