The Blue Badge scheme is a national parking concession designed to make it easier for people with severe walking difficulties to park closer to shops, restaurants and other places they wish to visit.
The scheme applies to on-street car parking only. For off-street parking, such as supermarkets, badge holders must check the concessions being offered as there may be a charge. You are entitled to park FREE of charge in most of York's public city centre car parks if you display a Blue Badge permit in your vehicle.
Badges are issued to individual applicants, rather than to vehicles, but can be used by the Blue Badge holder either as a driver or a passenger in any vehicle, as long as the permit is displayed correctly. To apply for a Blue Badge permit please contact us.
