York has an extensive local bus network, including six Park & Ride sites.

Bus services in York are run by a number of different companies, offering local bus services in addition to longer distance routes serving the wider region. A number of surrounding cities and towns such as Leeds, Selby and Pocklington are easily commutable by bus from York.

In 2015, York's local bus network was recognised as being the best in England, according to an independent survey by Passenger Focus.
